How many at fault accidents have you caused?

In the last 10 years. Be honest. What did you do?

You?

None, unless you count hitting inanimate objects. That I’ve done twice.

0. The only accident I've ever been in, I was rear ended while stopped at a red light (pretty sure guy was texting).

0 in the last 10 years.

3 accidents total in 35 years or driving - for 2, I was rear-ended so not at fault. for the other 1 - I was at fault (and only going less than 5mph so it wasn't a major accident). That one was almost 20 years ago.

0.

I've been rear-ended three times (twice while stopped at a red light, once while moving very slowly in holiday highway traffic, other drivers immediately took responsibility in all three cases). My wife has also been hit twice, once when another drive changed lanes into her without looking and once when another driver pulled out of a parking spot and hit her, also without looking. Those drivers or their insurers also took responsibility immediately.

0 in 10 years. 1 in 15. Merged out of a lane of standing traffic into an empty lane. Didn't look well and the guy coming down that empty lane didn't have time to stop or swerve far. Maybe he was going too fast but I should have looked too. Had to have side of my car rebuilt and his front panel was damaged too.

1. I bumped into the car in front of me very slightly in stop and go traffic. I apologized profusely. No one saw any damage, so we didn't even exchange insurance info.

15 years ago, I was side-swiped by a truck on River Road who either hit and ran or didn't even notice. The entire left side of my car was damaged, and my little kids were shook up. No one ever found the driver. I was so mad.

One. I thought I had enough time to turn, but the other person sped up. It was a minor fender bender.

1 in over 35 years of driving, and I've been in 8 accidents.

My mistake was while turning left in an intersection from a turn lane on a green turn arrow. Car in front suddenly stopped while turning in middle of intersection. Didn't expect that, so I ended up clipping her end.

0. I've been rear ended twice at stoplights in the last ten years, but nothing else.

0. I was in 1 accident 22 years ago when I was 17 and skidded on black ice turning a sharp corner. My car went through a wooden guardrail and into the woods. I was pretty lucky I avoided any trees and had no injuries and only moderate damage to my car.

0. But maybe 15 years ago I took off someone's mirror when driving by on a narrow street in DC. I left a note and my insurance dealt with it. The people whose car it was were SUPER grateful, and it was well worth it for good karma. Since I have a clean record it didn't effect me at all.
