Susanna Adams Jones, died September 21, 2025. Susanna Adams Jones was born on April 9, 1959, in Huntington, NY to Patricia Bleecker Jones and Edward Sprague Jones. She is survived by her husband of 36 years Robert Dayton Beguelin, their son Aaron Ogden Dayton Beguelin, and her brother Thomas Jones. Her sister Abigail Jones Feder died in 2014. Susanna dedicated her long and illustrious career to the promotion of girls’ education. She was Head of School for the Holton-Arms School, a girls’ day school for students in grades three-12 in Bethesda, MD, between 2007 and 2023. A graduate of Phillips Academy Andover class of 1977, Princeton University class of 1981, Susanna also earned an M.A. and an M. Phil. in History from Columbia University. Prior to joining Holton-Arms, Susanna spent eight years as Head of School for The Ethel Walker School, a day and boarding school for girls in grades six-12 in Simsbury, CT, and six years as Upper School Director at Marlborough School, an all-girls school for students in grades seven-12 in Los Angeles, CA. After retiring from Holton-Arms, Susanna became a practice leader at the educational consulting firm Carney, Sando, and Associates. She also continued to promote girls’ education as Executive Director of The 1911 Group, an association of heads of school that emphasizes female leadership. She wrote a monthly blog for the Association of Academic Leaders at One Schoolhouse, of which she was a founder. A service will be held on Monday, September 29 at 2:30 PM at St. Anne’s Parish, 199 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall. |
