| My school’s a/c died last week and they brought in portable units for each classroom except mine because it doesn’t have a window. Can anyone recommend a portable a/c unit for a room with no windows? It’s slightly smaller than a standard sized classroom but not by much. Fans just blow the hot air around and by the end of the day it is in the mid 80s in here. Thanks. |
| Go to Costco |
| No matter what, you need a vent. Any AC unit will push out hot air. |
| A fan is your best & safest option. |
Yeah OP. You need a way to get the heat out. That’s how AC works. Can they vent it out to hallway somehow?? |
|
Unfortunately, there's no such thing. I looked for this a bunch when our A/C was out, no dice.
It's because of physics. Cold is just the absence of heat. You can't actually cool things, you can only remove heat. So you have to be able to vent that heat out somewhere. |
| Do you have a drop ceiling? If so, vent it there. |
|
OP here. They said they can’t block the door to the hallway. I know they have ones like this that don’t need to vent. I just want some suggestions if you have one.

They sort of work. You need air movement to pull the moisture away from you. |
That’s not an A/C but I guess it’s better than nothing |
| A windowless room is just a closet by any other name. |
| Seriously can you put a big fan by the door? Is hallway temp controlled?? |
That’s just waving air around freezer packs. But I suppose it’s better than nothing. You’ll have to take those freezer packs home each night to refreeze them. |
I don't even know how that's legal. What happens if there is a fire in the hallway and they can't escape? |
I do believe it’s a fire code violation |
