MD Renn Fest -- tips?

Anonymous
Anyone tried to go there this year yet? I'm wondering when is the best time of day to go that is least crowded/less traffic to get in.
Any other tips?

You go on the day that you have tickets for - it is sold out

Get there 30-45 minutes before the gates open. Get dressed and hang out with the crowd outside the gates, watch the opening skit.
Always be early.

This.

And bring lots of cash.

Be there by 930. It gets crazy by the early afternoon so it’s best to get there early for parking and to be right there when gates open and then leave by 1pm. And bring cash!

It's a victim of its own success. I used to be able to choose the best weather day, and buy tickets a few days in advance (the first time I bought tickets at the door!), but not any more. In recent years, they sell out quickly and you need to pick a weekend and hope for the best.

Go at opening, wear good shoes, and be prepared to use portapotties. Eat on the early side too.

My tip is don't go. I hate it so much.

Yes to arriving early and bringing cash. Also bring hand sanitizer. Beyond that, just wander around and see what you like!

I felt it was very overrated. We’re going to a smaller one in Winchester this year.

It's sold out but they do release returned tickets right before so you might be able to go. Definitely go right when it opens and sit down early for a joust (which is really a stunt riding show).

My six year old had a great time. He particularly loved the jugglers, the hula hoop tricks, and the bird show.

It's quite tacky. Prepare yourself for people vomiting in trash cans by noon.

Get there early especially if you have younger kids and plan to get out before adult behavior starts setting in

Agree with this— it’s become a real circus. tickets for the whole season sell out immediately and there’s a lot of drunken behavior. Used to be a fun quirky thing to do. too bad.
