Well, first I keep in mind that, although we love him, he's a dog and he's not getting a huge portion of our budget for food. Then I feed him a mix of the Purina One Lamb&Rice with a Purina packet of soft foot (chunks or ground). He's a healthy 10 year old lab so I don't feel the need to change much! |
3 cups of Purina Pro Plan a day for one, and 3 cups of Hills Science Diet for the other. Plus cheese tax, salmon tax, apple tax. |
????? What does the "tax"mean ? |
Our dogs seemed to have an allergic reaction to Purina One/ Purina Pro. Switched to Natures Recipe for dry food. Excellent results.
Regarding canned food: We buy the best (most expensive) such as Blue Wilderness. |
Sounds good to me. Dh is buying Fromms for our dog and I think it’s too pricey |
Fromm heartland gold large breed 8+ years. He only gets 1 - 1.5 cups a day plus various taxes, so price doesn't really bother me |
You need to spend some time watching doggie videos. |
What’s a tax? |
Spot and tango but now dh thinks it may be giving the dog loose stools |
Treats You can't eat your apple/cheese/steak etc without paying doggy tax 😂 |

We feed Prurina Pro Plan Weight Management. Dog is a good weight (now) but this lets her eat a little more volume.
When we need to feed wet food, Force dehydrated. No cheese tax in our house, sadly. |
Around my house we joke that our dog is like George III with the taxes … always looking for a new thing to tax! (And we can’t just throw it into the harbor because he’d love to jump in and get it.) |
