I find it amazing how little many 20-somethings hang out — at bars/restaurants or even at a friend’s place. I’m far from 20 but I know plenty. Their parents are social, but the kids not so much. Wondering about others anecdotal observations. |
Oops wrong forum. Sorry. |
14th St. |
This + the wharf or Union Market. |
Anywhere near major colleges, early 20s is college age. |
+1. Ballston and other areas with newer development. Where are you looking for 20-somethings? Hopefully it’s not where the 40-50 somethings go out. |
Our young 20s au pairs love The Wharf. Also, weirdly, Georgetown. |
I’m talking 25+. The young professionals. |
Champions, Garrets, and Poseurs? |
I have two kids in that age range - Arlington/Clarendon/Ballston is where they socialize. |
Ballston in particular has attracted a lot of people in their 20s. Part of it is the growth of tech and other jobs in Tyson’s—many wouldnt want to live in Tyson’s sprawl in their 20s, they’re not going to want to live in McLean or Falls Church or similar in their 20s, so Ballston is a close, fun, safe neighborhood that also makes it easy to pop into DC. It also works for couples where one works in Tysons and the other works in DC, Arlington or Alexandria. |
the ones we know are mostly in the 14th St corridor, the greater Union Market/H Street corridor and on weekends, Adams Morgan (amazingly) is still in the mix. |
Georgetown flea on the weekend |
I saw a bunch of them out at Art All Night at Eastern Market/Barracks Row last night. |
Plenty at the Georgetown one, also. My 20something DS and most of his friends live and hang out in the District- 14th St/U St area, Adams Morgan, Georgetown, some clubs downtown. |
