Fired feds - how is the search going

Especially in this horrible job market!

Donuts DRPers count?

I've been searching since February.
I should have started once Orangeface got elected. I already knew shit was going down after that.

I took the DRP in April. I finally got an offer last week right before the September 30 deadline.

It's been crazy. Good luck out there! Take care of yourselves!

Most former federal employees will land higher paying jobs in the private sector thanks to DJT’s strong leadership and steadfast commitment to the American people.

So not true. Lost my job in the gov and haven't found another.

It became clear my job would end at the end of the FY. I applied to 80 jobs, got interviews for three. Of the three, one hired someone else (who I know and like--we both would have been good choices!). One offered the job at a salary so low it made more sense to get fired, collect severance and unemployment, and work at minimum wage for a few months while continuing to search. And one was a significant pay cut but has nice coworkers and is in my field. I start that one later this month. I still hope to be a a fed again one day, but this is fulfilling work that keeps me in the loop and puts an end to the uncertainty about what I'll be doing for the next couple years. I'm very grateful for that, and I hope the others searching find something decent as well.

Contractor who was laid off, so similar situation but not technically a fed. I have had 15-20 screening interviews, some of which have gone to the final round. No job yet. Two places did tell me they went with someone internally, which makes me think that was the case for more since feedback is pretty rare.

Searching since April. Over 100 applications in communications. No interviews. Ugh.

Similar situation here. Tough times. Even freelance work has been difficult to find. I also got no severance since I was a long-term contractor, not a fed. Fortunate to have an employed spouse with health insurance for the family. Good luck to all who are still looking.

Fed contractor. Not yet laid off but it’s coming. I’m in a senior role and have been looking since February. Nothing yet. And the ones I’m interviewing for come with a 30-40% pay cut. It’s awful.
