DD will be applying ED1 to W&M and we need to decide about submitting her SAT score of 1400 (700/700). She’ll likely retake in Oct for one more try.
Instate, 4.0 uw/4.47 with 6 APs and honors where possible. Has shown lots of demonstrated interest - tour, interview and shadow day. Good ECs and service in areas of interest and will do “optional” essays. Has been on two sports teams at school that pushed her out of her comfort zone but not an athlete. 1400 is at the bottom end of their average. Assuming she doesn’t get a better score, submit or not? |
| WM middle sat range is 1360-1510. I would definitely submit taht score. |
| I'd submit. |
| I would submit |
| Submit |
| Submit score. Is DD in-state out of state? |
That's lower than the range posted on W&Ms admissions website, which has the bottom 25% as 1400. |
| Solid score. Submit |
| She is in ED with those grades and SAT. |
| Wrong forum to ask, the people who always say TO will say go TO. In any case, submit. |
| My kid has a 1410 and they are submitting the score to W and M. |
That means that 1/4 of the class had scores lower than 1400. Plus, lots of people go TO, so no doubt the actual scores are much lower. |
| Submit. |

curious: why do people think w&m is worth going to?
It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere. most hiring for CS and Business is at govt or Deloitte type places. arts and science people mostly go to grad school. so does that mean that this is a good place only if you want to go to grad school like law or med? |
No. |
