Idk PPs situation, but my office was previously authorized to telework on school closures days. It was just recently announced that's no longer the case. Luckily I have SACC that covers a fair amount, but a lot of people are in trouble on short notice.

A local church in our part of FCPS usually offers (secular) one-day or half-day camps on those days. They also offer after-care on regular school days. Fees payable to the church would apply.

By 4th grade they just stayed home. Often I would invite a friend over for half the day so they could entertain each other. Me or DH work from home.

Before that age we used the martial arts camps, St James, or took a day of leave.

I just saw day camp offerings in the partakes catalog so that is probably a convenient choice now.

We did a soccer camp yesterday and then the kids are signed up for a Fairfax Partakes camp for the next September date.

My kid can go to SACC on most teacher workdays. When that's closed either my husband or I takes the day off or he goes to martial arts or gymnastics day camp. Sometimes the parents alternate it.
