Any recs? I'm having the hardest time getting the protein that my doctor and dietitian want me to get. My weight loss has stalled this week because I reintroduced carbs, so that's getting cut again and I just need easy to make high protein foods that are not meat. Emphasis on EASY. |
The easiest are greek yogurt and cottage cheese.
Slightly more work is smoothie with protein powder. After that, beans and lentils and eggs and tofu. Seitan is amazing protein - worth spending a bit of time to figure out how to prepare it in ways you like. |
What number are you trying to get to OP? I think shakes and powders are going to be necessary above a certain level… |
Fairlife Shakes are delicious and super high in protein. One of them has 42g. |
Paneer
Tofu Tempeh Eggs Greek yogurt I make a high protein roti: just add a couple of scoops of unflavored protein powder into the dough. |
You can not judge weight loss stalling or progressing based on one week and as long as you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight even while eating carbs. Sure it is easier to over eat carbs but carbs in moderation in within your calorie range are fine. There is no reason to cut carbs from your diet. Better to learn how to eat them in moderation than try to fool yourself into believing you will never eat them again or that you will be ok eating them once you lose the weight. If you have a dietician ask them for a sample diet or general vegetarian food list they wat you to use as a guide. That is their job. |
Why are you cutting carbs? Are you diabetic?
|
Tofu and tempeh - cube and air fry to make a nice snack

I make huge batch of a quinoa recipe I found online. It’s 1TBS evoo, juice of one lemon, salt and pepper. Add in one package of rinsed chickpeas and a cut cucumber. I also usually add in cut celery. I pretty much eat it every day by adding in greens like arugula, and any mix of the following:
—juice of one lime —avocado —dollop of vegan pesto —cooked veggies —sautéed spinach —fresh herbs like cilantro —homemade pickled onions or raw green onions —raw apple —nuts —feta —hummus —a dollop of really good homemade mustard dressing or a peanut butter dressing It’s so basic that you can dress up every day and have a different meal |
I’m pp and forgot baked tofu or peas for more protein |
DP here. Are you serious? Cutting carbs works wonders for weight loss. I don't pay attention to calories at all. I only look at carbs. |
Cool good luck with keeping that weight off or pooping. |
I’ve had a lot of luck with ChatGPT and putting what I like into it and telling it my protein and calorie goals and what I want and don’t want to eat. It’s given me great meal suggestions and tweaked it based on my feedback. You are getting pretty specific too, so give it a try. |
Lupini beans
Check out Brami |
I like white bean salad: white beans with chopped onion, cucumber, parsley, lemon and olive oil dressing; you can add cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, black olives. Sometimes I serve it over lettuce.
Or make a white bean dip with white beans, olive oil, lemon juice, a touch of water, garlic, salt and pepper whipped up in a food processor. Eat with veggies. |
