Agree of disagree: the best fresh, hot pizza does not turn into the best cold pizza?

We get pizza from a number of places for various reasons--different favorites within our family or different preferences when ordering for our family only versus my teens having friends over, etc. I have realized that my favorite pizzas when they are hot and fresh are not great cold. Conversely, some pizzas I really don't super love by one kid does, are so good as leftovers right out of the fridge. Anyone else experience this?

My favorite pizza in the city is 2 Amys and it is not good cold. It’s not even good if you do takeout-only piping hot out of the oven.

Agree. Pizza that has soft crust and good amount of decent olive oil (like the Neapolitan pizza) is usually not good when is cold

Cold pizza is less tasty, so you need to start with a more flavorful pizza if you want to eat it cold.

I agree, best cold pizza is like Domino's pepperoni. I'll cop to not knowing if that's not at least partially nostalgia from Saturday mornings when I was a kid

Totally agree. Flippin pizza is decent hot but when it’s cold the crust is so hard I can barely chew it. Ledos is actually decent cold. When it’s cold the sweetness of the sauce is less obvious
Some of my favorite pizzas are good either way though.

Oh, agree. I have strong opinions on this.

Neapolitan can be amazing but it's only good piping hot. It's all about the very fresh, chewy crust and light, hot toppings.

Detroit or Sicilian style holds up well to reheating but is too doughy cold.

New York style is the quintessential cold breakfast pizza. The crust gets out of the way and that homogenous layer of cold cheese is the focus. A *great* NY style pizza is a needle in a haystack in the DMV, but an acceptable one is easy to find.

I don’t think 2 Amy’s is good in any capacity. I think people gravitate to it because it is “different.”
