If you had the option to pick any club for your DD to play at for u-13 and older, where would you pick and why. Any location in Northern VA.

Play D1.

Is this a trick question. There are only two clubs who have done this consistently. VDA and whatever is left of Union

No - honest question. I would like to hear other peoples opinions who have done this before and/or who are more knowledgeable about the landscape for girls.

Don't let Arlington chime in a say they are replacing Unions old recrutiting dominance. Arlington is very good at what it does, giving high EFC families access to slightly better academic options through soccer. This very rarely translates to D1 but when it does its usually to ivys. So again very good at what they do, I would add McLean GA will do this well too, more so because of their zip code than anything else. So the answer as PP said is VDA hands down and Union in 2nd for now but they will need to see better results with 09 and 10 classes then they have done so far with 08.

Not in u13 and u 14. Then they start pulling girls in for their recruiting contacts.

Union is definitely not it. The club has existed for 2 years, and just went through another shake-up. It’s so desparate it’s partnered with 6 mediocre lower level clubs for field space. The coaching is awful. The current club has NO track record and is sliding backwards fast. Watch as the talent continues to leave.

Go where she will be among the top players on the team and get a lot of playing time.

This is true on based on VDA 2012 results.

VDA 2011,2010,2009,2008 were successful at 13/14 and then very successful in high school ages/recruiting. Except for 2011. It is too early to call what kind of team and recruiting they will be.

Not sure about Union being second. most of those girls in 09 and 10 classes are from McLean before McLean moved on from the partnership. Union could get strong from merger of 6 teams but you need to have very good coaches. Look for strong coaches lineup with good track records. I believe VDA and Arlington over any other teams in Virginia. NVA has good players/teams but coaches are mess, St. James also has good players but the whole club is a mess.
