$7/gallon gas is coming

Anonymous
Even at $7/gallon, Americans are still paying much less than other wealthy nations. I don't see it tanking the employment #s either.

2020 prediction that gas prices would soar under Biden. Controls to reduce output, fracking and drilling could cause gas prices to surge when deman steered to climb back from pre-covid levels.

So I Blame Biden.

No one forced you to buy a gas guzzler.

Oh God, shut up you shill.

I have a small car that gets 28 mpg. It now costs over $60 to fill up when it cost $30 before. You notice it and feel it. Not everyone being impacted has a gas guzzler. Typical out of touch democrat. This is why you're going to get demolished in Nov.

And the record profits the oil and gas people are making… you just don’t care or you’re just a fascist giddy to watch liberty die?

Honest question — why do liberal Americans like to call their enemies “fascists”? I’m not an American (I think your politics is funny as hell though so I follow it a bit), so any insight would be helpful.

Because there is a legitimately fascistic element to the far right in this country. It is becoming increasingly evident at the state and national level. If you are such a studier of our politics and our system, you should know this and be alarmed. It parallels the rise of fascism in Europe and authoritarians in parts of Asia and South America.

Companies are using artificially inflated prices to fuel record prices.

All because the average American managed to save a few bucks over the pandemic.

Corporate greed wants it all. They will manipulate the market as a way to manipulate elections.

Is hardly consist myself anti corporate but absolutely agree with this. When you see inflationary prices and companies making record profits that a signal that this market forces at play - it’s sheer, unadulterated GREED.

This thread started in February. When is that $7 gas price coming? I think we are at $4.67 based on AAA and would need another 50% increase from here.

Either way glad I bought a hybrid. 70% of my miles are electric and it cost less then the gas version with the fed tax credit.

Merriam-Webster definition:
often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

The current MAGA Republican movement is a fascist movement that believes that the government should control many societal beliefs, especially Conservative and often Christian-based ones and restrict people from doing things that are against the Conservative or Christian ideology (like restricting minority, women, and LGBTQ+ rights). They believe that there should be national standards that supercede individual rights, They also believe that the former-President, Donald Trump, should be autocratically allowed to run the country and break laws that are inconvenient for him. They also want to forcibly suppress opposition. Through gerrymandering and overly restrictive voting regulation, they have sought to oppress and restrict minorities and poor voters from voting. Through judicial appointments and judicial activism they have sought to slowly constrict the laws to restrict individual rights and suppress opposition.

Over a 100% increase so far. Biden plans on even higher prices than that, and an increase in energy bills as well.

It's been $7 in parts of the country for a while.

Yes and the GOP literally won’t do anything helpful. They’re happy to gadfly (as are their repugnant death cult members) but does anyone actually think that the GOP would do anything about gas prices? Maybe tax cuts for the wealthy, requiring kindergartners to play with missile launchers and allowing chiropractors to perform surgery.

The spiked prices are about 50% gouging and the GOP won’t stop it (probably because the oil and gas companies are funding them).

The gas station near my house in Bethesda went over $5 a gallon.

This is due to Putin's poor choices. Not the fault of the US or any other country.

Worse, millions in Africa and Southeast Asia are at risk of starvation from Russia's wheat export blockades and Ukraine's inability to sow next year's crop.

Explain the increase in prices from January 2021 to February 2022.

(Hint: It wasn't because of Putin. It had everything to do with Biden's policies that he repeatedly advanced during his campaign. He is determined to "rid the world" of fossil fuels even though the world is nowhere ready.)

Because worldwide demand for oil increased as COVID receded and vaccines enabled economies to begin recovering in earnest. This isn't complicated.
