Recommend your microwave

Looking for a counter top microwave. Nothing fancy but also don't want crap quality. Bonus if not made in China. Thanks!

Actually, bonus as well if it has a toaster function.

When in doubt buy GE

We have had GE for over 10 years. Works great. No toaster function though but maybe the newer models have it.

NOT the new Jennairs. You can't punch in a time e.g. 45 seconds. You have to scroll through numbers! Its very annoying.

Anyone have a Panasonic 4 in 1?

Just don't make the mistake I made - measure your space and compare it to the dimensions of the microwave. Make sure it will fit.

Ugh a countertop microwave? Microwaves make food taste disgusting. We own a 2 million dollar house and do not have a microwave.

I don't think countertop microwaves are made to last anymore.

I've had the same-ish GE model for a long time. It costs about $200.

Lifespan:

#1 -17 years
#2 - 5 years
#3 - less than a year (warranty replacement given)
#4 - 4 years

GE is just a brand. Appliances are made and sold by Chinese Haier. They have the rights to the brand for appliances.

We’ve had our Panasonic for almost 20 years. We like that it has a dial for time, though Ican understand when that would be a negative for others.

Have a GE in one house that I love, but the frame cracked somehow, so I may have to replace it sooner than planned. Recently got a very sleek, slim Frigidaire over the range model and it's fantastic.

Well I know someone who has a FOUR million dollar house and DOES have a microwave. So there. It's for reheating or melting, not for cooking.

Yes, have the one sold at Costco. Honestly I was skeptical, but it's all right. Microwave is good. The air fry function works but usually takes longer than package directions (FWIW I've never owned a dedicated air fryer). It can't really toast at all.

I wouldn't buy a combo microwave/convection oven next time for two main reasons. One, it's really big. Two, it has an exposed heating element that sticks down from the top, so I'm often worried I'm going to burn myself reaching in there after using the oven mode.

Serious question - is this for a garage or a den? What are you using it for?

If it’s good enough for David Chang, it’s good enough for me.
