For this year, W&L has reported a general acceptance rate of 13.56%:

| 80% white if you are comfortable with that. |
| Keep pushing W&L but people are jumping to go there. Not even 9000 applied. |
W&L's site indicates that 69% of its incoming class are White students of domestic origin. |
Annnd.....?? So? |
I'm the OP and I cannot recall having mentioned W&L in this forum before today. Certainly I have no connection to the school and have not visited it. |

That does make sense. Its small and private. What other small, private colleges are in VA? I'm sure there are some, but that is the list that one would need to compare it to. VA has a very good public system, much better than most states. I live in MD and fully understand the difference. But, public systems operate differently in terms of instate tuition/admissions.
What is the VA private university that you are happy that W&L topped? |
22% Domestic Students of Color (students identifying as Asian American, African American, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander and multi-racial) That means domestic student 80% white. |
| It is all self identified for race…so take the self identified minority status with a gain of sat. |
W&L is among the top SLACs, but VA has a lot of reputable public schools that VA parents prefer because of cost. |
There are nearly 30 private colleges in VA. Most if not all are small (I’m not checking every single one, but off the top of my head I can’t think of a large one). https://cicv.org/colleges/ |
| Didn’t their ranking decline? Are they even T10 ? |

W&L stands for “White and Loaded.” For people who are in the know, it is certainly the best educational institution in Virginia and, in my judgment, probably the best liberal arts college in America.
W&L is an excellent choice for students who want a school which will provide 1) an excellent education; 2) a peer group that wealthy, socially adept, and well-connected; 3) an enjoyable undergraduate experience; and 4) among the best career outcomes of any school in America. |
Wow—W&L is better than UVa? |
How enjoyable can a D3 school of 1800 kids in Lynchburg be? It gets old very fast. Also, 60% of the school gets financial aid with an average award of $64k…so this isn’t merit aid. It seems like you have some idea of what W&L used to be vs what it is today. It does well in career outcomes at 55 by WSJ. I guess you could say it’s among the best because there are 3000+ colleges. |
