Why is Trump refusing to fill 13 vacancies on DC’s local court?

Anonymous
25% of the judge positions are empty in DC to handle local crime and civil matters. Trump has not nominated anyone for these positions?

The current judges are hearing cases until 1 or 2am, but there is still a massive backlog.

WTF is going on? Why isn’t Trump filling the court?

not having judges stalls justice, particularly when one is planning on committing more crimes in that jurisdiction.

Because he doesn't care about crime or due process.

The Senate hasn't approved his previous nominees and judges, with Democrats stalling.

That doesn’t mean he can’t continue nominating people. They won’t all be stalled because some have been confirmed already.

What’s the best way to create a “hell hole” that justifies taking over the city to his supporters? Crime was actually down when he brought in the National Guard and then decided that some of them should be armed. Now it will be a backlog of cases. Most people will attribute blame to the DC local government— instead of to Trump who’s responsible for the backlog.

This year, Democrats have refused to confirm a single Trump civilian nominee by voice vote or unanimous consent. It’s completely unprecedented. For a nominee coming out of private practice it’s problematic to just be in limbo with no end in sight.

You know why, OP.

He doesn’t actually care about improving crime.

Perhaps Trump should try nominating some capable, honest, accomplished attorneys to judgeships rather than inept, corrupt stooges with no real experience or ability.

This! You want them confirmed? Just nominate someone sane, qualified, and non-partisan.

He can’t find any TV personalities to fill the positions. Neither Judge Judy nor Judge Joe Brown are available.

DC jail is getting backed up with people waiting to go to trial. They are out of space and prisoners are sleeping on one another.

He’s waiting on Senate approval for nominees already in progress. Ask them to hurry up.
