Moving to Pittsburgh for a job

DS was dodge but in March. He has a very promising interview in Pittsburgh, he is 24 is contract to hire till December, should he get a short term lease place or long term motel- stay or AIRBNB?

He is not getting a lot of calls back in the DC AREA..

It doesn't really matter. What's important is that he do his own research, make his own decision and live with the consequences. Rather than having his mommy do it for him.

At 24 he could just get an apartment for a year or look for a sublet. Lots of opportunities in Pittsburgh. It’s a fun city for young people.

He may want to look at Furnished Finder which is for traveling nurses but not exclusive to them. Or look for a grad student who needs a roommate for fall semester.

One of my relatives had very good luck using Air BNB to find a garage apartment or in-law apartment while on business in St Louis. I would look and see if you can search using that type of property feature.

You’re all over DCUM today with this sentiment. Sorry your mommy didn’t help you. It’s ok for people of all ages to ask their parents for advice.

Enjoy Pittsburgh - at that age, I'd try to find a spot in one of the city neighborhoods versus in the burbs. Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, South Side - flats or slopes, etc. There's a bunch of other neighborhoods as well that are great for younger adults. Might be a chance to find a short term rental to check out one of those neighborhoods and get a feel for things.

I was just there for a week to visit my parents who live in a suburb that borders the city. South Hills area - thing that always amazes me is that stuff can be only 7 miles away, but it still take 20 to 30 minutes to get there because the road infrastructure ain't the greatest.

There are no jobs in Pittsburgh or anywhere else because of Trump and his GOP traitors

My adult kids use Facebook to find roommates.

I assume there is a section like marketplace but for roommates.

I’d look at month to month apartment or extended stay hotel. Air bnb can be dicey.

Why do you try to ruin so many threads ? Grow up & get a life.

Assuming that he receives an offer of employment (Congratulations !), consider asking the company's HR rep for suggestions.

Our Pitt grad found a job in Pittsburgh, as did 2 of his college friends, and they now rent a row house in South Side that's awesome. One block of the strip with restaurants and shops, but their block is quiet. He could probably find a sublet through Dec if he wanted from some student who is abroad - look on FB
