Periods coming every couple of weeks

Anonymous
Last fall they had been every couple of months, now we are down to twice a month.
And heavy. Is this something I should see a doctor about or is this normal peri?

You need to see a Dr. It's not normal or common to get one ever 14 days. You will eventually suffer from anemia, if you are not already. Very concerning!!!

I had anemia a couple of years ago and I take iron, so that is on my radar. I have an appt to see the doctor, although I do think this is within the range of normal for perimenopause.

Tell me though, how have other people's perimenopauses progressed?

My sister just stopped getting periods (but, she had gotten too thin during a divorce, so I think that just cinched the deal). My mother had lots and lots of bleeding, and then just stopped bleeding at age 55.

This happened to me - it's not normal and you do need to see a doc.

In my case, doc did a u/s and biopsy to check for any fibroids or abnormal cells in the uterine lining. Nothing there, so next step would have been an IUD, but I lost some weight on Ozempic and my periods reverted to normal.

It can happen, I think—at least I was told it was normal by a few doctors. In my case, though, it turned out I had a benign polyp.

It happened to me. Eating low carb and taking a brisk daily 3 mile walk somehow regulated my periods back to normal.

I think my shortest cycle during peri was maybe 20 or 21 days but that only happened once or twice. Ive had a couple of 45 day cycles and I prefer that. Actually, at 53, I prefer to be done. My mom had regular normal periods that just stopped forever at 50.

The biggest headache for me has been periods that last up to 12 days sometimes. Im thrilled if I only have it for a week at this point.

I had this happen on GLP1 shots. Have you changed anything else in your meds or regimen?

Well, I did see a doctor. I already knew I had a fibroid, but she found a cyst on my ovary. And then did an endometrial biopsy. OMG the pain was excessive! She kept saying she wouldn't do it if it hurt. I said THAT HURTS and yet we continued on.

How long does it take to get results back? My exit from the doctors was interrupted by an emergency so I didn't get all the info.

I was taking HRT (0.025 mg estradiol; 100 mg of progesterone) - but have since stopped at the doctor's request.

I don't take other meds other than iron and vitamin D

Good to know. Will try going low carb. I'm a regular exerciser already.

My endometrial biopsy results took a week to come back.

It's normal take iron and if you bleed heavy or for 30 days call the doctor that's what I was told. Are your 14 days all heavy or a normal period then spotting?
