DS wants mid-size, collaborative not cut-throat competitive atmosphere. Undecided but favorite subjects are science and economics. Straight guy, liberal, plays sports recreationally but prob won't be student-athlete. Plays in a band. Loves Model UN, study abroad, fun campus, doesn't care about greek life so doesn't want to go somewhere where that's mandatory to meet people. Likes a lively town or city nearby.

Stats? Budget? |
| Franklin and Marshall |
Dozens of schools likely meet criteria and you suggest one, with an enrollment less than 2k. |
| William and Mary hits a lot of your wants, but need stats and budget to give better recommendations. |
| Pitt |
| I agree about W&M, maybe also Skidmore. Hard to say if these are realistic targets without stats and more detail. |
| Perhaps Syracuse? |
| There are probably 500 colleges that fit those criteria in the broad geographic regions that you have identified. But you have said nothing about your student’s qualifications or how much you want to spend or if you want a state school or a private school. In other words, you are being ridiculous. How can you possibly expect to get any helpful advice? |

What's mid-size? To me that's 5-10k but not sure what your definition is.
Some 5k - 10k schools... Delaware Villanova University of Scranton Lehigh W&M Boston College |
| None of those worth the money. SEC schools or Penn State, and Pitt better options. |
+1. OP, what are stats / budget / home state? |
| University of Connecticut |
Penn State is definitely not mid-size. Other than Vandy (which is not a target for anyone), all of the SEC schools approach or exceed 20,000. |
| DD went to Tulane and loved it. It’s about 6k or so undergrad, R1 research. Uptown is lively. Provides generous merit for top students. |
