Emergency kit in car.
Jumper cables Flashlight Water bottles One of those fold small shiny blankets A small first aid kit. Box of granola bars. Gloves and hat. Not preparing for a particular emergency but get general all purpose cover as many potential issues as possible bag of stuff. I’ve used the jumper cables to give a jump to a friend whose battery died. I’ve used the flashlight when I accidentally dropped something in a dark parking lot. I’ve used the water and granola bar when we found a lost dog wandering in the street who seemed hungry and thirsty. Restocked each time. |
| Yes because of DV. |
|
I’ve got a first aid kit in my car and one of those multipurpose tools for breaking windows and cutting seatbelts.
At home, I’ve got shelter in place stuff. |
|
It's always good to have cash on hand. Both in your car (hidden well) and at home.
|
| My kids get motion sickness, so my key emergency supplies in my car are hospital-grade barf bags and cleanup supplies. Other bug-out scenarios are of less practical concern to me. |

The Earth is burning!
We have poisoned our own air with carbon and no bug out bag will save you from the climate disaster!! |
What is your shelter in place stuff and what's your scenario? |
| My bugout bag has an extra pair of shoes because the only way you are evacuating this area is on foot. |
| Here's a full checklist, OP: https://www.ready.gov/kit Car kit info is here: https://www.ready.gov/car |
| Can someone who has emergency supplies please describe the scenario they're preparing for? We don't have hurricanes so of course I'm thinking political unrest. |
With t-rump in the WH, how can the current political unrest possibly get any worst? omg |
You can't be serious. |

In my car I have a first aid kit, one of the break glass tools, some blankets, flashlight, water, and I think some granola bars. Also traffic triangle things and a change of clothes for me and my son.
In my house I have a box with a wind up radio, some meds, water, and some random food (peanut butter, crackers, and pop tarts). In my office I keep an old backpack with water, light sticks, granola bars, an old pair of sneakers, and socks. |
