I really like this name, and so does my husband, but it seems so does everyone else and it's one of the most common names. Is it too common to use?
Husband also likes Felix but I'm not sure how I feel about it. What do you think? We also like Isaac, but not as much as James. Open to ideas. Name cannot start with W, M, or C and cannot end in -ett (Beckett, etc.) |
As someone who agonized over her children’s names, with the benefit of time and hindsight I would advise you to just go with the name you love, without regard to its popularity. |
My advice: don’t worry about how common a classic name like James is, only worry if it’s a trendy common name. |
If you both like it best, just use it. It’s a strong classic, it will always be around. And is MUCH better than something like Jaxon. |
Love James.
Definitely would have used it if I had a boy (4 girls). I would have used the nickname Jaimie (maybe I would have figured out the right spelling). |
I think it's a fine name. Just don't go with funky spelling so many DCUM moms do. |
Love James. I have met many a Leo and Finn but no James |
I think James is a great name.
It is becoming unisex. |
I haven’t really seen this taking hold as a girl’s name outside of celebrities |
James is a horrible name for a girl. Why would anyone do that to their child? Lovely name for a boy, OP. Who cares if it's common? And what do you want to bet that Jim or Jimmy will come back into fashion as a cute nickname. Do it. It's much better than Felix and Issac. |
I work at an elementary and there are maybe two or three in the whole school. Great classic name. The only reason I would not use it is if your last name is super common like Johnson or Davis. |
I know many more boys named Felix and Isaac under 14 than I do boys named James. James is classic. If you and your husband both like it I would not hesitate, and I say this as someone inclined towards less common names. |
Felix!

James is never going to go out of style.
Issac and Felix are also great. James Issac or James Felix would be a great combo. |
I know many James but like the name. Just got the list of all the kids in my kid's preschool and the only name repeated amongst 75 kids was River. |
