I have teens at home and lately I’ve seen profiles of some other teens we know pop up in the “People you may know” part of Facebook.
I thought teens hated Facebook. It’s mostly old geezers like me (mid 40s 🤣) What’s going on? Are they spying on their parents? |
| I thought FB was for boomers. Neither of you belong there. |
| It's mainly for them to stay connected to extended family in my experience. They rarely use it. |
Hush your mouth! I love fb. You can’t tear me away. |
Same here. |
+1 😆 |
| Marketplace. My son and his friends are looking at cars and parts for cars if they own one already. That is the only reason they have accounts. I asked the same thing. They are not using actual FB. |
| The teens I know on Facebook seem to use it mostly to promote lawn mowing business, pet sitting business, babysitting, tutoring, etc. trying to reach parents. |
| To connect with family, sports teams and special interests from what I see with my teens and early 20s kids. |
| To stalk people including their parents friends. Not joking. |
My 22 year is on it for this reason. She never posts anything |
+1 My college freshman joined only because her club sport did all their communication in a FB group. Other young people are on there for marketplace. |
|
DS is going into his freshman year at his section of the band uses FB messenger to communicate. No idea why they chose it... I expressed a bit of concern and he said "It's facebook! I'll be the youngest on there by like 50 years!"
He then proceeded to beg for Insta which has been a much bigger timesuck. |
| To stay connected to grandparents and family members. |
| My 18 yo laughed when I asked if she has a fb page. She as well as I use Insta but she uses TY, Snap and Discord |
