Assume Arts & Science major. Any guesses?
Cornell: Columbia: Brown: Penn: Dartmouth: Harvard: Yale: |
|
I think Columbia is still TO.
Min 1450 |
| Princeton and Columbia are test optional. You can just look at the CDS prior to covid to see the expected SAT scores for each. |
| Minimum for unhooked? Hooked can be lower. |
OP here: unhooked and assume not an engineering major. |
| It's the same as pre-Covid. 1500/34 gets you a serious look. But I think there's a little more flexibility today, so if applying shoot your shot if above 1400/32 if everything else is great. |
| 1400 if at least 700 in each section. That's the bar. Doesn't mean you make the final cut though. |
| Does it matter? Even with the return to test mandatory, we all know that admissions at these schools is not about test scores or other academic qualifications. |
| Min 1440 at all ivies, though math/reading split definitely matters. Pre test optional almost all ivies had above 1430 for the 25th%ile. Scores will end up similar to pre-TO (matriculation fall 2020 is the last group, which is CDS 2020-21. Note that CDS 2018-19 has a lot of old SAt data from those who took it as juniors before the revamp) |

First read?
I thought it's around 1450ish(+-) to pass the first read at T20. It doesn't mean it will make it at the committee. That's where other parts of application come to play. |
Elaborate on how split matters... |
Eh, with Trump looking over ONLY the test scores and GPAs of admitted students, yeah, holistic review will take on a new meaning. |
| Yes, I would also like to know how the split matters. DC has 1500 in one sitting, 790 math and 710 English. English seems on a low side and I push them to retake but they refuse. Applying to a few Ivies. |
| Send over 1450 |
Major and EC's still matter, just as with athletes all colleges have programs that need students who sing, write for the school paper, play in the orchestra, compete in debate/model UN etc. It is not discrimination for schools to have capacity limits on eng/commuter science majors |
