Hi, I am trying to plan a long weekend with a friend somewhere between Maine and Maryland. Four adults, four kids age 2-10. Would like to be in a place where there are some kid activities but not nyc or a big city. It is such a big area I’m feeling overwhelmed. Looking for a place to get an air bnb or maybe a resort if there was a good one.
Any ideas appreciated! Thanks! |

Portsmouth NH
Charming small town, a couple of nearby kids museums, boat tours, island tours, beach (but cold water) Easy day trips to Salem, Boston and Gloucester (whale watching) York and Kennebunkport. And don't miss Strawberry Banke. |

Kennebunkport - Stay at the Lodges on the cove I think it’s called.

| Thank you for the suggestions but the idea is that one person is driving from Maryland and one from Maine, it would fairly unfair to my friend to pick Portsmouth! I should have been more clear, something kind of in the middle of those places! |

Jersey Shore- Long Beach Island, Avalon, Stone Harbor |
| Catskills? |

It’s about 5hrs from much of Maine and about 8 from MD It’s raved about - there’s a few other family camps up in Vermont that could work |
Or Western MA |
| Mystic, CT |
smuggler's notch is a similar option. In NY, you could do Legoland or Rocking Horse Ranch. There are also some nice state parks nearby (Bear Mountain) or if you have a big budget, Mohonk Mountain House looks amazing. closer to MD would be Lancaster: Dutch Wonderland, farm stays, lots of other stuff to do. |

Cape Cod
Newport RI Pennsylvania - Amish country |
| Lake George, NY — huge gorgeous lake at the edge of the Adirondacks. Fun to stay at the YMCA. |
| Watch Hill, RI |
I was going to say that too, but I wouldn't stay near the town at the bottom of the lake (near Fort Henry), it's always too crowded. |
| Iceland! |
