Yes, some leagues might switch to 8/1 based on local school district. But vast majority will be 9/1.

They also brought up there has been discussions about other ripping off the band aid and starting next year. They didn’t specify which leagues.

That seems unusual to announce at a California FAQ given CA has a 9/1 school cutoff so no local districts would be implicated. I am surprised no one asked about the trapped August players as there will be many of them in CA with a 9/1 soccer cutoff as many do not start kindergarten right upon turning 5.

The goal is align “most” kids with their grade. August kids who started late will be with the grade above them.
