Are mega mansions out of style? Is Colonia making a comeback?

Ah, yes, nothing is appealing but my tiny old sh*t shack...

Of course. McMansions look dated. And are not appealing to the younger generations that are more sensitive to waste and climate change.

It should come with solar panels to help offset the energy demands of a house that big. Of course maybe only two people will actually live in it.

This home not that big. Anything over 10ksqft is considered big

I’m not a fan of this “colonial” at all. It is very unbalanced and not visually appealing.
Here are some examples of larger homes with a more traditional style that actually look nice.

Beautiful. 🎶 Vienna waits, for you… 🎶

Intentionally built to look like someone converted an attached garage into a great room. That's a choice, I guess.

No, mega homes not going out of style. They appeal to recent immigrant nouveau rich and that’s not changing anytime soon. There will always be demand in metro areas for such construction, and more particularly large homes in new communities.

Alright, so please give me one example of a house plan that you think is not ugly. I’m genuinely curious.

It's a McColonial/McFederal/McMansion, nothing to see here but a confused standard big box build.

The money it would cost to build anything tastefully or skillfully crafted would be cost-prohibitive, as in the builder wouldn't profit, and the buyer couldn't afford it.

That is the problem with this area and new builds is that land is too expensive, and labor and materials are too expensive.

I'd love for them to build a colonial or cape cod 2500 sf home. Nobody needs 7500 sf. What a waste

That house is tragic.
