Hosting about 12 women all early 40s for a game night together starting at 6 pm. I don’t want to do a full dinner spread, but want to make sure I have enough food. Help! |
A themed drink |
I’d make a fancy charcuterie board. Or, a deconstructed one. That’s what we do for book group. Don’t overthink it. |
Cheese |
In the summer for women in their 40s, I would cater heavy hors d’oeuvres from a Mediterranean restaurant.
Low sugar and lots of minimally processed food. Prosecco + a signature drink with minimal sugar. Maybe an indulgent dessert that comes in bite sizes. But it’s a know your audience thing. |
I would not be thrilled to be invited to someone’s house at 6pm and they don’t serve dinner. Please make sure your invitees know this!
I’d serve a huge cheese and charcuterie board, but I love the Med tapas idea more. |
I would order a catering selection from Uncle Julios. |
6:00 means enough food for dinner. I like the Mediterranean idea. |
Caprese. Bread. Dip. Cheese. Fruit. Chips and salsa. Salad.
It wouldn’t be hard to put out pasta salad or pasta with red sauce. |
Agree that 6pm means there should be dinner. |
Caesar salad, grilled chicken, pasta salad, charcuterie or mezze |
I'm starving by 6 pm, so make sure the guests know what to expect, a meal or finger foods/appetizers so they can plan accordingly. |
You have to have dinner but it can be small bites and self serve.
A wrap platter from Whole Foods or something and then veggies, fruit, cheese etc. |
Other good self serve dinner options, without knowing where you are:
Surfside does catering you can pick up Salumeria in Brookland does sandwich platters Know your audience but chick fila will sell you like 100 nuggets on a platter, can mix and match with healthier/fancier options. Pizza |
Wow, I have this exact thing planned!! Who are you and why are you copying my ideas?? I am serving Lebanese appetizers ("heavy apps") and DIY cocktails (I'll have a few mixers out and a few juices). |
