Which schools have eliminated supplemental essays this year?
|
| Oops meant 2025 of course |
Only UVa out of the 10 or so my kid has been looking at, some haven’t released their supps yet. |
| I haven't gone through in detail, but it seems like the trend this year is reducing numbers of essays. Schools that typically had 2 or 3 might only have one this year. Sorry I don't have specific schools. |
Thank god. |
|
The ones with low or no supps will be top of my kids' list lol!
More options with less effort is the key to DD's heart. And many colleges are interchangeable in terms of student experience/outcome anyway so why not focus on less effort ones. |

| yes, let's go UVA! |
I agree.....it was absolutely miserable last year. My kid must have written 10+ different essays to apply to 5 schools total. Was ridiculous! |
| These kids work their tails off in high school....with grades, testing, extra-curriculars. Let 1-2 essays be enough already. IDK why so much wait is on an essay to being with....they get teacher/counselor recs to help fill in the gaps |
| Looks like UMD is only doing common app essay this year too? https://admissions.umd.edu/apply/essay-questions |
In Common App's UMD section, the "not ready yet" message appears under the short essays. I would not write it off yet. |
They had a lot last year. |
| Everyday our standards get lower and lower. Now the kids don’t need to know how to write or persuade others. God, this country’s education is a joke. |
Keep in mind that AI is another reason not to put much stock in essays. |
