| first-timers here. stupid and a waste of money or fun/when in rome? is the food disgusting? |
| I would also be interested in any tips for visiting Dollywood and surrounding area. |
| I would never go to Dollywood. It's a dry park. |
| And the entire area is MAGA , which I refuse to support. |
|
Unfortunately I don’t know because I’ve never done it, but unless someone gives you firsthand experience, you should go for it.
I’m very liberal. Visiting the smoky mountains and Dollywood is way underrated. I would encourage almost anyone to do it. |

What ages? We did the pirate show and it was great for kids. Food was mediocre at best, but you’re mostly going for the show, which was good.
For the poster who asked about Dollywood, it’s a good park. I would stay at one of the Dollywood Resorts. The onsite benefits is worth it (fast passes, golden hour, free preferred parking.) Depending on your party size, look into buying a season pass. It was cheaper to buy a Gold season pass which came with buddy passes than it was to buy individual tickets. You also get discounts on food and merchandise. We also did Anakeesta in Gatlinburg and that was also a lot of fun. |

Do you mean Dolly Parton’s Stampede dinner show? We went when my kids were 10 and they loved it. It was a fun show. Food was mediocre, but again, kids were happy.
For Dollywood, agree, stay at one of Dolly’s properties & use the trolley & fast passes. As pp mentioned, it’s very maga. But, it’s a beautiful area. Love the Smokey Mountains. |
We went last year. The food isn't great but the show was entertaining for what it is. My kids were engaged, the food was passable and it's worth leaning fully into the kitsch. It's definitely MAGA land but it's also a tourist destination so unlikely you'll have any unfortunate incidents (unless things have worsened a lot since the election). For context, we're a Black family and enjoyed the trip. |
| Dollywood is amazing and Dolly Parton is a true American treasure. The dinner shows in pigeon forge are entertaining, food is edible but nothing great. I grew up going there as a kid for vacation from california and loved the three story gokarts and now I love the mountain coasters. All the people who say its 100%maga are being ignorant. A southern accent doesn't automatically mean you are uneducated or a bigot. Even in the most conservative counties, 2 out of 10 voters vote liberal. It may be a minority, but some of the most open minded and loving people I know call east TN home. |
Why do you ask this question in such a negative way? |

Pp here. I’m not ignorant, nor did I say it was 100% MAGA. But…there are literally Trump stores. I love the area. I love Dolly. It’s a beautiful part of the country. We’ve been several times. So, it’s (according to another pp) OnLy 80% MAGA. |
| Does the stampede dinner still end with the south winning the civil war? As a kid that was troubling to me. |
| We went to the Dolly Parton Stampede show last year. The food was fine, horses and performers did some cool tricks but I did not like that the two sides of the arena were split into North vs. South and the show was a competition between the two. There was a fair amount of booing from one side when the riders for the other dude did something well. Lots of cheering too but the whole “which side will win” competition spin on the show ruined it for me. |

I really dislike Tennessee but was impressed with Dollywood (and she does a ton for charity). The cinnamon bread at the park is delicious. I found the stampede show weird because of the north vs south battle and some adults got weirdly excited when the south won.
But Dollywood as a whole has a lot of rides and is nice. Stay in one of the properties (we had a condo) and we got heavily discounted tickets and fast pass upgrade that was totally worth it. We liked the mountain coaster as something else fun to do. |
And ICYMI: there are Trump stores and Trump merch in DCA, at DCA, at stores in VA and DE, etc. It’s weird how so many posters are making assumptions and sweeping generalizations based on what exactly? Appearance? Location? |
