Ok, I know you guys are likely to make fun of me and that this is another lame thread (yes, I am okay!) but I need your advice!
How do you decide between two colors when buying something? I’m buying an expensive-to-me bag for travel. On the official website they sell it in about 20 different colors. Originally, I wanted it in one color (moss green), but then I found it cheaper at a different retailer, but they only sell it in moss green and black, and now I’m thinking I want it in black! It’s so insignificant and unimportant, but it’s a lot of money (to me!) and I don’t want to have buyer’s remorse. Please indulge my ridiculousness and tell me how you’d decide. Thanks! |
| You might be able to spot moss green on a luggage carousel. |
Great point, but I should have mentioned I’ll be carrying it on exclusively; it’s a personal item. |

My favorite color is blue, so I often buy items, especially ones that are a lot of money to me or treats in blue because I just enjoy that color. I know that blue things make me just a slight bit happier. Also, because I do this, many of my expensive items are blue, so they all coordinate a bit.
I think you should buy the moss green...it sounds like that was the one that spoke to you, and would give you the most joy. |
| For phone cases, wallets etc, I buy the brightest color so I can find it when I've set it down somewhere. I avoid black for important things. |
| I love moss green. I’d go for that color. |
| Buy the one you like most. Don’t buy black just because it’s practical. |
+1 Because outside of blue, my favorite color is green. These will go with everything I own. |
| My 1 piece of luggage is a cabin sized Rimowa. Aluminum. |
If you can’t pick out your own luggage, you don’t deserve to leave your house. |

OP, is your question how people decide between two colors in general, like two colors of paint on the wall, or two different colors of the same t-shirt?
Or how we would decide between two colors in this specific instance, regarding luggage? Because the answers are different. |

You seem like the type who is always going to second guess and not allow herself to be fully satisfied with a decision. You originally wanted green. You were prepared to pay full price for green. There were 19 other colors and you still chose green. Then you found it cheaper and the choice was green or black and suddenly you can’t decide between green or black. I bet black was one of the other 19 colors on the first website, and you didn’t want it then. I wonder if you’re making this harder to decide because you feel bad spending this much money on a luxury item or something. You never indicated you like black better, just wondered if you should buy it instead. It seems like the kind of problem people create to prevent themselves from doing something because of anxiety.
I think you should get the green or sit on it for a few weeks and see if you still want it. |
Ditto to both these posters except I like green a bit better over blue. Get the moss green! |

It depends on what I am buying but if it's clothing/accessories and the price is right, I love the design or fabric, I DON'T decide; I buy a few.
If this is costly, I'd go for the colour that initially struck you. I travel a lot for work and will splurge on items that just make me happy to look at- to make up for the annoyance of travelling so much. |

If I’m choosing between two colors, I buy both and return the one I don’t want once I see it in person.
If it’s clothing, I’ll buy both. If it’s clothing that fits great, I’ll buy two of the same knowing I want to extend wear with a backup. Easy to return items or resell these days. |
