Best Biscuit Recipe for tall, flaky, & light biscuits

I miss the bake at home biscuits that Mason Dixie used to sell in the freezer section for baking. I am looking for a recipe that comes as close as possible. Any ideas?

If you don't mind palm oil, the Southern Biscuit Mix is the best in my family's opinion. No fail too. In the south, you can buy it in the grocery store, but here I get it from Amazon or Walmart.com. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Formula-L-Biscuit-Mix-52-oz/10314076?classType=VARIANT&athbdg=L1200&from=/search

Any one, the key for those flaky style ones rather than the southern harder ones, is to fold it and roll it more.

Fold and roll. Fold and roll. Do that 5-10 times for really layered biscuits that look store-bought or Cracker Barrel type style.

Don't fold at all and simply roll them for shorter harder traditional biscuits.

I make these every year for Thanksgiving, and everyone loves them, even the picky eaters. It's pretty much an all-day task, but so worth it. They are light and fluffy and amazing!

Surprised people buy biscuit mix premade. Always wondered how those things could sell when saw them sitting on the bottom shelf at stores.

I love Bisquick. And yes the giant box that I buy is way on that bottom shelf.

To get true southern, fluffy biscuits you need crisco or lard.
