Healthy whole food based veggie burgers without black beans or nuts

Anonymous
I am looking for a veggie burgers recipe that has no nuts because of allergies, and no black beans because I don’t like them. Something where I can make a bunch for the freezer, and that can be cooked on the grill and also inside on the stovetop.

I had a great veggie burger with lots of umami at a restaurant. The menu said it with miso, shiitake mushrooms, quinoa, sweet potatoes, sunflower seeds and other things I have forgotten. I am looking for something like that.

Eggs and dairy ingredients are fine.

Dr. Praegers mushroom risotto burgers. Love them.

Sub the black beans for kidney beans

Kenji’s veggie burgers on serious eats are really good. The ingredient list is very long though and I rarely make them.
I often make Indian style burgers which have a spicy potato and vegetable filling, breaded and pan fried. They don’t do well on the grill though.

PP who suggested Kenji’s burgers again - I meant to add you can sub the walnuts for sunflower seeds since you don’t want to do nuts.

Do you have a link? The one I see is black bean burgers with cashews.

Recently, I saw a Youtube video from Epicurious rating the different veggie burger brands. Here’s the link:

FWIW, I like Boca burgers, but the reviewers didn’t. I don’t know if you’d consider them particularly healthy.

Make them at home using steamed potato cubes and peas.

Ooh I love the Indian style burgers and Trader Joes has figured out how to make them grillable. Surely that can be replicated!

You can substitute white navy beans (or cannellini) or chick peas for the black beans. You can substitute pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds for the nuts.
