Graduate school attached to Pomona College failing!

This is really concerning. Claremont Graduate University, a member of The Claremont Colleges, is seeking a merger! What does this mean for the undergraduate schools' future: https://www.claremontindependent.com/post/claremont-graduate-university-seeks-merger-amid-budget-shortfall

Probably won't affect the undergrad programs unless some profs who taught both grad & undergrad courses leave.

I don’t understand why a liberal arts college would try to expand in this era. Declining enrollment. Decreased federal funding. How stupid. It’s like Amherst trying to build an MBA program or establish a medical school. Stay in your lane.

What college are these comments directed to? CGU is a graduate-only institution, and the second oldest Claremont college.

This is just the anti-Pomona troll trying to create issues. CGU is completely separate from any of the other C5s beyond sharing the same geographic footprint.

They should give up the college and land to the Claremont colleges. Claremont Theological University moved and went to LA, and gave their land to The Claremont Colleges, and they weren't even in the consortium. More land would mean more Pomona students and more opportunities for the Pomona community. No-one cares about CGU.

+1 has nothing to do with the UG colleges

This is a reasonable concern. CGU offers courses to the undergraduates at The Claremont Colleges.

+1, seems like this would shift the undergraduate benefits a lot if 5C students cannot take graduate courses.

My kid found plenty of courses to keep him busy at the 5Cs during his 4 years (took at least one class at each), and he never took a class at CGU.

Hello, Pomona troll! Life still so empty that you need to dig up and post about every minor issue that you believe reflects poorly on Pomona? Hang in there. I hope your continual anti-Pomona posting one day fills that massive hole inside you, but I suspect it will not.

Doesn’t mean it’s a good thing that courses are closing. Many math and Econ students find it helpful to have graduate course access across the street.

Agreed. There are a strange number of Pomona posts on a forum full of DMV people. They clearly have issues.
