Honda transmission goes after 5 years

Has this happened to anyone else? Multiple opinions. Not even 70k miles and Honda says transmission is shot. Of course no warranty and I feel helpless and so frustrated.

Keep elevating at Honda. That’s ridiculous.

Agree to keep elevating. Search for known issues on that vehicle and similar vehicles/close model years. Look at online forums/subreddits for Honda Pilot for others with similar experiences.

We had a similar issue with my Toyota Sienna a couple of years ago, we were past the warranty but nowhere near enough miles on it for a transmission to have failed. They quoted us $8000 to replace it because the way transmissions are built these days they can't work on them.

My husband worked with the service manager at our local dealership and he worked with Toyota to half the price. There were some known issues on Toyota transmissions, but not for our exact vehicle but close enough that applying pressure helped.

Good advice. This OP. I am sorry. I won’t buy a Honda now that I see this.
They truly don’t make stuff to last anymore.

What year? I know the 2018 model had a lemon of a 6 speed transmission.

I’ve had a couple of friends have theirs go out around 100k. I sold my crv at 100k because of this.

This happened to us with a different make and model. Just when we had the car paid off, the transmission went out and there was no warranty. We had it rebuilt, but it was never the same.

I have a 2019 pilot and feel like it is a lemon.

The Pilots are under powered for their size. Would never purchase.

It is rare but it happens. How many people reading this forum have a crv? 100? 1000?

Did your transmission fail without a warning or it was acting up before that

If you’re in NoVA check out these guys. The dealer quoted me for a transmission replacement for my Chrysler minivan, but these guys did a rebuild for much less and the transmission was fine afterwards.

Just wanted to add, my Chrysler had an “Eco mode” that you could turn on, and after I had the transmission issue I found multiple posts on social media where people complained that eco mode was a transmission killer. I stopped using it after that, but I suspect that may have been the problem. Don’t know if Honda has that option, but I’d avoid using it if it does.
