| Anyone else get annoyed at this? I don’t work at a high-pressure/high-stakes company. I work in a fairly niche, boring, slow-moving industry, mostly working on long, dry, technical documents. Why do co-workers and managers do this? |
| Lock the door. Have a secretary buzz you if someone wants to enter. |
LOL. What's a secretary? |
| This would happen to me years ago when I was in office. I would put one of my office chairs slightly in the way so that anyone who barged in would have to slow down and maneuver around it. |
Door? Isn’t everyone open office or cubicle these days? |
I'm going to do this. Love this idea. |
OP said barge into office. Wouldn't consider a cubicle or non-enclosed area to be an office by any stretch. |
|
What do you mean by barge in?
Imo offices aren't meant to be private. Anyone in the company could walk in of course. Do you expect an invitation? |
| My boss and coworkers don't barge into office. But they constantly send you emails and messages and if you don't respond in like 1 minute, there's another email or message. Geez. |
Or they ping me on Teams and call 2 second later. Then when I'm away I get messaged on Whatsapp. |
|
What are you doing that this bothers you so much.
Guaranteed your coworkers think you look at porn at work. |
There are two people in my office who do this. They are in their late fifties but otherwise entirely dissimilar. I have a cube that has a peninsula you walk around to get to "my" side where you can see my screen. There's a guest chair on the other side of the peninsula but these two people immediately walk right next to me and start talking. No pause, greeting, or "is this a good time", just all of a sudden they're two feet away talking a mile a minute while I'm still finishing the task I was working on. It's so frustrating. |
I expect a message asking me if I’m available. |
Thinking. I don’t look at porn at work or otherwise. But I’m glad coworkers think I’m that interesting. |
