I'm fed up with my SIL who is so worried about her job stability now complaining about her kitchen renovation.
Either money is an issue or it isn't. STFU |
| Kitchen renovations will always be complained about by everyone. |
| More money, more problems |
Unless you are a mega millionaire, money is always an issue. Having savings or equity loan for kitchen renovations doesn't mean you have unlimited funds. |
If you are worried about your job, why embark on a renovation, unless money isn't actually a true concern? |
| Habit. |
Don't play dumb. Sometimes kitchens are in such terrible shape that you need to change stuff. This was our situation. We didn't have a lot of money, but the fixer-upper we bought (because we couldn't afford a new or renovated house) needed new bathrooms and a new kitchen. They were not usable as is. And in the middle of the reno, my husband lost his job!!! Maybe OP's SIL is renovating an already wonderful kitchen and is just an entitled princess. Maybe she's given to complaining at the drop of a hat. Maybe her concerns are entirely legitimate. Who knows. |

My brother (with his wife) is a multimillionaire and he once told me that he and SIL are the poorest rich people at their kids private school because they don't have a second home.
I immediately got out my tiny violin. I rent a shithole shoebox of an apartment and my idea of "vacation" is traveling for funerals. |
| Why do people without money complain about not having money? It takes effort to be poor in America. There are scams health issues and such, but all others, why choose to be poor? |
LOL this did make me laugh out loud. DP I may borrow this line so if you hear it during random conversation at the Aldi supermarket from someone with 200 coupons stuffed into every pocket you'll know its me. |
So house is in sellable condition if needed. It's possible renovation is being done with equity lone not savings. |
| You don't really know anyone's true financial conditions and their psychological relationship with money. Some are too scared of becoming poor again to live large and others feel fine living large on debt. |
| Jimmy o yang has a bit about how white people, when they make it, they complain about how expensive their carefully-curated life is. Prime examples include complaining about the cost of home renovations, college tuition, and international vacations. |
