How much do you spend on a summer vacation?

....per person. And do you travel to new places or just go to the same place every year (same beach)?

We switch it up. This summer we’ve spent around $9000 on two separate trips. One was a cruise and a stay in Miami before, the other was a road trip to the mountains.

Around $30,000, but that was a trip pretty far away.

As much as it takes to do what we want to do. Sometimes $10k, sometimes $40k. We never go to the same place, and don’t really do beaches very much.

Usually somewhere between 7k to 14k. We spent about 10k this summer for 4 people going to Seattle for 6 days. But we like to stay in nice hotels and our kids are old enough that they need their own room.

Same above - family of 4 with 14 and 12 year olds. I don't think we've ever gone above $25k total per trip though but we typically do big summer trips whether global or domestic. It's hard - just so $$ - if our kids could split a room with us, prob less $$.

^ never same place 2x and less beaches. Not too exotic but def hit Europe/Asia/islands - not Africa/S Am yet considering AK or Iceland next!

Let my post be the one that urges everyone to go touch grass!

Family of five, HHI of about 160k. The past several years, we have done about 4 days at the beach in an Air Bnb that is not more than $2000. Last year, it was a one bedroom condo in ocean city, but ocean front and with an indoor pool. This year, it's a SFH that's about a 5 minutes walk to the beach in Norfolk, VA. Two years ago, it was Chincoteague, a house with a huge yard, but we had to drive 15 minutes to the beach. We make meals at the house and eat out (carry out) maybe once. So, all in all, we probably spend 3K +/- on summer vacation.

On average around $3000/person for our immediate family.

If we vacation with more extended family it’s much less

Why would that inspire anyone to “touch grass?”
We have the same HHI And spend 7-10k. That includes a two week trip to visit family and a one week family vacation.

Summer vacation is usually our only trip of the year and we spend anywhere from $8000-$15,000 for a family of four with two teens. Mainly depends on if we go somewhere driving or flying and how long, anywhere from a week to two weeks. Always somewhere different. We've done Maine, Norway, Disney (that was actually a winter trip that took the place of summer that year), Michigan, San Diego, Caribbean resort, Bermuda cruise.

What's your Seattle itinerary?

It's really variable. This year was very low key, all drivable. Last year we went to the West Coast for 10 days so that was a lot more. Next year I'm planning 2 weeks in Europe, so that will be more than this year and last year combined.
We also tend to alternate new places and familiar places. My kids love the beach, so that's in frequent rotation (not every year, but probably every other or 2 out of 3 years) and then we do something else that's new (or at least new to the kids, some of them are repeats for me).

This year we spent about $9k per person on two trips. Two weeks in Europe and 1 week hiking and visiting national parks out west.

It varies. Last year we spent around $1K/person visiting national parks out west (& a couple of other things). Plane tickets & rental car (well, and one day at Disney) were the main expense, since we camped and mainly ate groceries.
