How do you eat mostly plants in your snacks? I need some great snacking ideas. Willing to cook and prep a LOT because this request means no carrot sticks or obvious things like that! |
Chickpeas. I like to roast them to not completely crispy with some pickle seasoning or Tajin. |
Veggies with dip -- pico, hummus, or guac
Fruit either whole, or in a smoothie, or with some yogurt (it's "mostly", not "all") or with peanut butter spread on it. Baked oatmeal with fruit in it. Left overs |
Edamame - steamed in pods, or dried roasted with a touch of salt. Great source of protein and vitamins! |
Sugar snap peas for the crunch
Celery’s with peanut butter |
Roasted chickpeas
Homemade granola bars Wasabi peas Fruit + yogurt smoothies Edamame Dried fruit/fruit leather Peanut butter Cereal Nuts Hummus and pita Popcorn Avocado toast |
I eat a lot of mixed nuts. Kale chips. Cucumber salad. Toast with peanut butter and banana. |
I eat meat. Lots and lots of meat. |
Carrot sticks are a plant food, so I’m not sure why you would not eat them.
Nuts Dry roasted edamame and chickpeas Trail mix (homemade) Veggies with plant based dips such as hummus, Muhammara Baked sesame tofu Samosas Pakoras There are lots of other vegan Indian snacks, or easily made vegan, if you’re up for a bit more work. Ministry of curry has some good recipes. |
Fruit. Cut veg. Nuts. Edamame. It's pretty simple. |
Why not just keep a bag of almonds? Less processed and less packaging. These seem pretty wasteful and unnecessary. |
Samosas and pakoras are basically fried dumplings. I don’t think they are the healthiest if you’re adopting the Michale Pollan approach. |
DP but my kids like to keep these in their sports bags to eat in transit. We do plenty of nuts at home, but these beat grabbing bags of Doritos.... |
Why not both. I have almonds and fruit chews. It's just nice to keep something that's nonperishable on hand. |
