Accelerated and Enrichment Pre-Calculus

Anyone have experience with the class? My child is at Whitman

Are you talking about honors precalculus?

If you mean Honors Pre-Calculus, it is in fact harder than on-level even though both can lead to AP Calculus BC the year after.

Never heard of it.

Honors pre-calculus is also harder than AP pre-calculus.

The course bulletin online for Whitman only has Honors and regular Precalc.

DD took Honors PreCalc this year at BCC. Her math teacher told the class that AP Calc AB would be taught at the same pace, and that AP Calc BC would be taught at a faster pace, so they should choose what they felt most comfortable with.

Sorry posted too soon. DD found Honors Precalc perfectly doable. She's sticking her neck out to do AP Calc BC next year. We'll see how it goes.

Honors Pre-Cal is known to be more difficult than Regular and AP Pre-Cal. If you kid is math oriented or willing to put in the extra work they can do well. If not, take on-level or AP.

No it can not. On level Pre Calc is not meant for those to enter an AP Calculus track. Even Honors PreCalc is not necessarily for AP Calc BC, students go into AB.

Yes you absolutely can enter AP Calc from on-level pre-Calc, though most would take Calc AB. You do not have to take Calc w/ Applications.

+1 It's not necessarily advisable, but you can do it.

Regular pre-calc can lead to AB but not BC (barring exceptional circumstances)

Honors pre-calc can lead to either AB or BC.

Not without a fight at Whitman, and many other schools.

Sadly, to which of those it leads can be determined by the school the student attends, and its administration's preference in affording course options, rather than the relative preparedness of the student.

Are you saying that some of the HSs don’t offer BC? Which ones? Is there an online option?
