Fairfax county pools - lifeguards

The Montgomery county post has me concerned. What are we seeing in Fairfax county in terms of lifeguards at morning swim practices?

Ours doesn’t have a contracted lifeguard on duty until 10AM. But AM practices are nearly done at that point. Is this standard?

Coaches/anyone teaching swimming, even lessons needs to be a certified lifeguard.

We do not have a lifeguard on duty/in the chair, but all of our coaches are lifeguards. This is true of club swimming as well- the coaches are the lifeguards.

The bigger issue is that someone at the pool (including during swim team practices) needs to hold a pool operators permit. Our club used to have lifeguards there during practices, etc mainly for the pool operators license. Most the HS coaches were lifeguards. We asked head coach to maintain a pool operators license now.

All of our coaches have to be lifeguard certified. The salaried coaches (head and assistant) also have to be pool operator certified.

Yep, our pool too. All coaches are lifeguards or lifeguard/pool operator certified.

We don’t have lifeguards but at least one coach has their lifeguard certification.

Someone is checking the chlorine and adjusting if needed when they open up each morning for the first swim practice of the day. That person is the operator on duty, likely a coach, until the pool staff arrive before opening time.
