I was at a cottage and the owner’s had the board game Trouble, which we played. I forgot how much I love hearing the pop when you pop the dice.
I wouldn’t mind picking up some fun games for when I have family and friends over. Do you have some good ideas? |
It's a lot of set-up and brain power (compared to Trouble) but Pandemic is fun because you're all on the same team. It's the humans versus the game. |
Go-to's in our family: Rumikub, Sequence, Bananagrams, Blokus, LCR, Euchere, Cribbage |
Sorry, Euchere is cards, not a board game! |
Telestrations- its great for all ages and intergenerational play. |
Codenames. |
My kids enjoy Splendor |
Uno. Monopoly. Battleship. The oldies ![]() Poker for us adults ![]() |
I love sorry and uno |
Azul is a pretty good one, easy to learn, complex strategy.
For something complex Terraforming Mars is pretty fun. Gloomhaven is kind of a fantasy video game in Board Game form. |
Ticket to Ride is our favorite.
I also love the card game Skip-Bo. |
Apples to Apples |
Forbidden Island. It's a cooperative game so doesn't pit players against each other. You work together against time running out (flooding triggered by card draws). |
Boggle. We have at least 3 different sized boards. It’s one of the few games that multiple people genuinely enjoy playing, and it can be played flexibly to accommodate different ages and skill levels. |
+1 Apples to Apples is my favorite game for a group. Between the random cards and the quirks of the individual players, the results are unpredictable. I don’t think I’ve ever played it without laughing. Other good games: Pictionary Password Scrabble or Bananagrams Blokus Card games are also good: Bridge Hearts Spades Poker BS Spoons |
