Any recommendations of where to go for tween bathing suits? |
Athleta girl |
What size in general? Height and weight?
You might want to start looking at teen and young women’s store. Aerie and target and h&m were my dd’s favorites at that age. Size xxs is online sometimes. |
Target
Athleta Girl has great suits, but they seem to sell out very quickly. |
Considering most girls that age are around 5ft tall, at the women's section. |
Above two, plus Gap, JCrew, Macy's, Nordstrom, Speedo, Amazon, etc. |
You’re just listing retailers. |
No, this does not work. My dd does not have the breasts or hips of a woman and the women’s bathing suits just don’t fit, generally. |
Speedo, Jolyn, TYR |
Snapper Rock teen is what my 12 year old and her friends prefer |

We had this same struggle at the beginning of summer. I ordered a million suits for my 5’2 85 lb 13 yo dd. Just starting to develop but no way can she fit in women’s suits. She likes two pieces but modest ones. I tried a bunch of nice women’s brands in xxs - no dice. We then just ordered a zillion no name suits off Amazon in size “13yo” and found one that worked great and just ordered the one that worked in different colors. My 11 yo wears athleta and that would be my top choice if they had any suits by the time 13 yo dd realized in time she needed new suits for this summer. I’m assuming it’s still slim pickings now. They have sufficient padding in girls sizes to provide coverage. Target, old navy, gap, and lands end did not work |
My 12 yo kid has suits from Old Navy, but she's small and still a kid size. |
Jolyn seems to be the most popular with the female swimmers and lots of styles. |
My similar-sized 13-year-old found the best options at Target. She wanted two-pieces but nothing too skimpy. Target had a bunch of options that worked, in the girls department, size 14 or XL. |
