Anonymity or not, the nasty, rude, hostile, irritated, condescending and judgmental emails make it pretty clear that true friendship among adult women is not possible. There's clearly too much ugly under the surface to make a real friendship possible.

You are making this assertion based on your experience with an online forum????

My real life female friends are amazing and wonderful people and I am so happy to have them. Sure we have ups and downs but that's part of life.

I feel like the majority of the responses are positive and encouraging...unfortunately the hostile/irritated/condescending/judgmental responses are more eye-opening so they capture the readers attention.

And I feel the same is true in "real life"...most women are perfectly rationale and pleasant and supportive. Its the unfortunate few, who usually are very vocal and opinionated, that take the cake.

Selective perception. Tons of really nice, smart, kind people on this board. Some rotten apples give the impression that overall people are nasty, but I'd say that 80% of posters are actually pretty sympathetic.

And take a second to look at yourself: I consider myself one of the "nice people" out there, and I know I've definitely made some snarky or rude posts. It just means that sometimes I can be rude (especially when someone says something that offends me), not that I'm inherently evil or incapable of friendship.

I agree that there are some miserable posters on this forum. However, I've really found some useful information and good advice too. I love this forum, warts and all. It's like asking hundred's of moms their advice on any given topic. Sometimes you get the crazies but more often than not, you get someone who actually gives you good information.
