Signs the baby is here?

Anonymous
This is going to sound so incredibly nosy and you’re right to tell me to MYOB. Our neighbors a few houses away are expecting their first baby any day, and it’s been a long time coming for them. I’ve been so excited for them!

They are both teachers so they are home all summer, so it’s not unusual for the cars to both be parked in the driveway. I haven’t noticed either car gone overnight. No uptick in guests coming and going. So I’m guessing baby isn’t here yet?

We aren’t close enough for me to pester them with “is baby here” texts, nor do I want them to be concerned with us wanting to meet the baby. I’m just generally excited for the news that the baby has arrived.

Just got home from work and things look quiet and normal over there. So, what will be some signs baby is finally here?

Pink smoke will arise from their home.

More trash than normal?

All those diapers?

But then again, I had twins. I'm sure our trash collector noticed

This made me laugh!

Seriously, OP, do you live across from these neighbors? I would think seeing more lights on in the upper level of the house in the middle of the night might be a sign?

Could be Robin's Egg blue. Don't be sexist.

Balloons or sign on door?

I think it's cute you're excited for them ... but you are getting close to the creepy line with monitoring the cars in their driveway.

Why not just leave a card with a gift card for meal delivery or somewhere like Target that sells diapers at their front door, and add your phone number and say they can text you if they need anything. Hopefully you'll get a text with a baby pic as a thank you.

Or blue.

Our neighbor recently had a baby and had one of those stork signs in the yard. I had not seen one of those since the 90s!

OP here. I drive by on my way home by default and walk past on my nightly walk. I’m not trying to be creepy and I’m a little sad it’s being taken that way. I’m not creepy, I’m just excited for their new and very much anticipated addition.

You're nosy and whether it's because your life is boring or you're excited for people who you are not close with despite living near doesn't change the fact that you're nosy.
