Best DC or nearby neighborhood for young families

Anonymous
Good morning,

We’re a family with two toddlers looking to find the best DC or nearby (within 2 miles of DC) neighborhood for us to make friends with other young families.

We moved a few years ago to MoCo into a house we love, but most of our neighbors are much older (over 60 y/o), and most of the few young families there are here send their kids to a big swath of different private schools. Kids almost never play in their front yards. Many families belong to country clubs (we do not). It’s made for a somewhat lonely parenting experience.

Our wish list:
- Lots of young families
- A great neighborhood public elementary school
- Most families in neighborhood send kids to public school
- An active community social scene that young families participate in

Grateful for any suggestions. We’re open to DC, MoCo and NoVa.

North Arlington. Some neighborhoods have decent private school attendance, but good elementary public and tons of young families so plenty public too.
