Will Federal hiring ever happen during Trump Era?

Generally speaking, other than certain agencies, I don't see it happening. Maybe Musk's America Party becomes a threat to the WH, and they want to discredit anything Musk touched on but even that's a long shot.

Yes this. I am a mission essential civilian position and my unit has onboarded 2 GSs and 2 contractors since the inauguration. Same job series.

They are already hiring in divisions that got decimated by DOGE. DOJ environmental section has postings got attorneys. But it's a horrible place to work now.

Probably not going to see huge #s outside of Adm priorities like ICE and supporting functions at DHS, maybe some DoD etc.

On a case by case basis, yes there will be more hiring. There will continue to be attrition through retirement and resignation, and some agencies have critical staff needs.
The current rule of hiring only 1 person for 4 people lost is not helping.

Maybe but I can’t we anyone other than MAGAs loyalists wanting to work for an admin that hates its own employees so much. Not to mention the extreme lack of flexibility, which had been a major recruiting factor.

I don’t think so. I’m so unbelievably swamped with work. Easily 10x the amount of work I had last year (and we’ve always been a very busy, high performing office). It’s unsustainable. I do an incredible job but I’m not Superman. And because I’m falling behind, it’s affecting other programs around us and the public.

I’m also worried about worker retention because my employees are getting increasingly bitter about the workload we all have. We all prided ourselves on what a great job we did, but now we just get yelled at daily. I need at least a dozen more employees to keep up.

There are still Musk loyalists and tech bros in federal jobs, both appointed and career.
