How much of a step up is it compared to public school, how is rigor, and also would you guys recommend it? we’d be commuting from Alexandria. Anything else to know?

Not sure why you would commute, BI is very similar as far as academics and extra curriculars

If you do commute, there are other SP families in Alexandria so carpooling may be a possibility.

The local high school sucks so I just want my kid to get a good education no matter the distance.

Does it hinder academics a lot?

Ireton is closer and the academics between the two are very similar. Is there something specific that PVI offers that you can’t get at BI?

Even against traffic, that's one hell of a commute. The facilities are nice. Academics are okay, on par with the surrounding public schools.

Very similar. I’d say Ireton has slightly better academics and PVI has better athletics.

My kid has friends at Paul vi. Though, BI is a backup.

It’s not a step up at all. Look at their college decisions IG page. Graduates mostly admitted to mediocre colleges.

The distance will matter for your kid hanging out with friends though and being a newly licensed driver going that far everyday.

College outcomes don’t matter to me. I just want my kid to be relatively challenged. And be in a school with few fights as that’s the main reason why we’re avoiding Alexandria schools.
