The season is over. How did the teams moving from GA to ECNL do? It looks like nationals didn’t put any teams into the knockout rounds.
That’s a little surprising considering they dominated in the GA and “ECNL and GA are equal”. Same with Ukrainian Nationals. |
Well, did the Nationals keep all the same players and coaches? How many went to the Hawks? New year, new teams. Hard to really compare in the ever-changing world of youth soccer. Next year will be even more chaotic with all the age changes. |
Or how many went the Jaguars? Maybe some preferred the GA. |
Players left nationals to play for jaguars to stay in the GA? I’ll take things that never happened for $200, Alex. |
Ukies are quite strong at a lot of the younger ages, but the North Atlantic is no joke! I know you're leading with the "ECNL and GA are equal" to get a reaction, but anyone knowledgeable knows that the top of the ECNL is far stronger than the top of GA. |
They both had teams advance to playoffs, ECNL playoffs is far more competitive at this stage than the GA alternative. Ukies and Nationals I assure you are feeling just fine after year 1 |
These top girls in metro Detroit move around all the time from Nationals, Hawks, Jags ... Once they reach that level, they look for their best situation. Besides, it can be pretty tough as clubs also are ruthless about adding players they see as better. If you don't see that, well, you're caught up on the whole badge thing I guess. |
Exactly, how many clubs/teams in ECNL have never even made it to the Playoffs after being in the league since the beginning |
One club leaving for the GA (Midwest) even had a team there -- although they didn't get to the knockout -- although their best player now no longer plays on the team (on older age group -- even playing semi-pro now) |
Obviously you are asking a question you already know the answer to in order to push your narrative. Nobody ever said teams in ECNL and GA are equal. I'm not sure why ECNL dads like you keep spouting this. Everyone knows the teams in ECNL are better because ECNL draws the better players. But (there is always a but) that doesn't mean GA is not worth it for many players. GA provides excellent exposure opportunities. If you take any of the good ECNL players that are getting college interest and move them to a GA team, they would still get the interest and land at the same place. In that sense, the leagues are closer than people think. |
The other nuance is the strength of ECNL comes from its top clubs. If any sizable number of those clubs ever left, whether to GA or some other new entity, it would change the landscape. For example, USYS is losing a lot of top team talent from many of its clubs right now who are opting to join MLSN2, GA, ECRL. That's changing a lot of things in the rungs right under the elite level. |
Because GA parents constantly write on this board that the leagues are the same level. They aren’t. The best club from the girls Academy moved to ECNL. They got to the champions league and did not have a single team get out of the group. If they were the best team in the girls Academy and the leagues are equal, wouldn’t you expect a little bit more? Couldn’t they get at least one team to the round of 16 and then lose? |
I think GA parents say the platform currently can get their players seen for college opportunities. They typically acknowledge ECNL has a big edge in this regard, but they often add GA is catching up. |
Because MLSNext! |
Wait until more ECNL clubs join GA next year( Arlington?, BSC?). It is coming and ECNL hats are in the disbelief phase after the shock. Acceptance is next lol. US soccer said so. Remember this post. |
