Tween/Teen girls

My oldest seems past the phase of playgrounds, community pools and water parks.

Where are your tweens/teens going or where do you/did you take them during the 11-14 year old phase besides their usual activities?

I still see a lot of tweens and the occasional younger teen at the trampoline/adventure park type places.

Painting pottery was a big hit with my 13 year old's friends recently.

Going to the mall supervised by an older sister of one of the kids or going to a movie supervised by an older sister have been popular activities. Parents would probably be OK supervision too, but they prefer an older teen sibling.

Walking to Starbucks/Tropical Smoothie/Acai bowl place is big with mine. As is meeting up at the pool.

I’m at the trampoline park right now and I assure you, there are plenty of tweens here. Probably even more at night!

Also going to the park with picnic stuff, books/games, and a blanket.

Also I'm surprised any tween would turn down the right water park with friends. If there are big enough slides and a group of kids, they'll go.

Same with the pool. Going with you might be boring, but meeting friends is fun at any age.

My young teens hang out at the pool with friends, usually dropped off and picked up (no parents).

This sort of sounds to me like a stubborn kids already bored with everything.

It might be that the kids are going with just the parents, instead of friends. My DDs still go to the pool with friends, but they definitely no longer want to go with us. They would go to a water park with parents.

My 13 yo goes to the neighborhood pool with friends, walks to the Starbucks or for ice cream, goes to the mall, and spends time with friends. Pretty typical stuff. Inside activities with friends are mostly baking and watching dating reality TV shows.

Yeah at this age if it doesn't involve a a peer i cant imagine my kid wanting to hang out. I don't think yourbkid is too mature, i think you aren't including friends. No teen wants to hang with mom, dad and siblings.

Neighborhood pool but only if her friends will be there. Was okay going with her sister (11) at the beginning of the summer, but now will only go if she knows her friends will be there.

Age 11 is when my daughter started to go to the mall with friends. After a few trial runs where a parent was in the mall at the same time, the parents all quickly moved to just dropping them off. They only go during the daytime with strict rules not to separate.

They are all 13 now so they go to the pool by themselves and they love a water park. Today, my daughter’s friend is here and they made candles, drew mustaches and beards on their faces to make some silly video and generally hung out.

Places she likes to go with us are out to dinner and to see movies we all like — although she is way happier if we let her bring a friend. If there is no friend to go to the pool with her, she is happy for me to go with her and we read together. She will also hang out at the beach with me if she doesn’t have friends that come with us.

My girls (17 and 14) still meet friends at our neighborhood pool. They also just hang out at each others houses. Sometimes they rummage through the craft supplies and make something or they will make a box of muffin mix or cupcakes or brownies or something. They will also ask for a ride to go walk around Target or TJ Maxx or something like that.

Pools are still very popular here with friends.
