Is it really that unrealistic to hope for a viable 3rd party in 2028?

I wonder....are we ready to have a viable 3rd party candidate that can break away from the extreme progressive Democrats and the extreme conservative Republicans?

Am I living in a dream world?

I want a grassroots candidate to rise from the ashes left behind by both parties. At this point I'm leaning towards voting for that mythical candidate.

This always cracks me up. There's hardly any daylight between Republicans and establishment Democrats, and some of you morons are still looking for something in this mythical righteous "center." Please tell me, where the center on the issue of genocide? How does one compromise on human rights? What exactly has all this compromise done for us?

Every right you currently enjoy was fought for you with the blood of progressives.

The reality is that life is not fair. It will never be fair for every single person.
No one will ever get everything they want.
Life is all about compromise.

One of the best lessons my kids learned in Kindergarten...."you get what you get and don't make a fit."
A lesson I learned from my piano teacher over 30 years ago..."life isn't a bowl of cherries."

Get a rich Democrat voting Democrat to start one, then, maybe, could win.

We need to first get big money out of politics and reform the electoral college or implement rank choice voting country wide, then they have a chance. Right now? No chance, the system is built for 2 parties.

Vote toward progress, not perfection.

I don't think he "personally" was an extreme progressive (I voted for him in 2020). But many Democratic policies and values have become too extremely progressive. That being said I did vote for Harris in 2024 as an anti-Trumper....lessor of two evils vote.

Yes, it's that unrealistic.

The opposite is happening

No, vote for competency and real world results on key city issues like crime, taxes and affordability.

Not lofty and debatable “progress” concepts divorced from people’s day to day reality.

99 percent of Americans don't give a f%$k about Gaza. But since progressives have taken over the Democratic Party, this is everything for them. Not health care. Not the environment. Not income inequality. Not retirement or pensions. Not schools. Not public safety. It's Gaza Gaza Gaza all the time with progressives. Modern progressives are the worst thing that's ever happened to the Democratic Party.

There's a huge space for a third party that actually addresses the issues that American care about. But unfortunately, this is systematically a two party system. Only a charismatic billionaire has a chance at a viable third party candidacy. And that's not great either. In the meantime, the big tent party does better - and that is definitely not Democrats today.

All of those things are still important to progressives, but you'll have to excuse our concern for an ongoing freaking genocide.

Here's the thing...Gaza isn't the only place that "genocide" is happening or will happen. It's happening in other places too like Sudan. But that's not plastered all over the news. Progressives only seem to care about genocide in Gaza. Why aren't they protesting ALL occurrences around the world of genocide?

3rd parties do not work under our federal system of voting. The Constitution is structurally biased toward two large parties that vie for the median voter.
